Best food spots for your library lunches!

Exam season is here and it’s becoming harder to find a seat in the Phil Rob Library!

If you’ve ever spent hours there, you’re probably either hungry, procrastinating, or both. Luckily, there are some lovely food spots just a short walk away, which are perfect for a quick study break or reward after a long day.

Neighbourhood Coffee

Whilst being relatively new, every time I walk past Neighbourhood, it's been packed! It’s a super cute and aesthetic spot right next to the library, and even has outdoor seating to enjoy some of the Geordie sun! It's perfect for a coffee or matcha break, and they also do great food for some brain fuel. My fave is the chicken and chorizo toastie, it's so good especially with the chipotle mayo!

DoughDaze

If you’re craving some New York style pizza then DoughDaze is such a good spot on Ridley Place, so only a five minute walk from the Phil Rob. You can grab a huge slice of pizza for only £2.50. It's such a good price and a pretty wide selection too! I usually get the classic pepperoni, but really wanting to try the buffalo chicken as it looks unreal!

Little Dumpling House

Located right next door to DoughDaze, the Little Dumpling House is a must! It's such a cute and cosy restaurant with serving delicious food - you won’t want to stop eating! My favourite things to order from here are the pork and prawn dumplings, but you can’t visit without trying the beef Chinese burger - it's amazing!

Wok Manifesto

Wok Manifesto is definitely my ultimate favourite food spot, I think I’ve been about six times in the last month! It's such amazing value at only £6.50 for a massaman curry! My favourites have got to be the sichuan red oil dumplings, general tso’s chicken and the hot and numbing beef! I can’t believe I haven’t tried the pork belly bao yet but it's next on my list.

Frankie and Tony’s

Frankie and Tony’s is so popular that the queue is often out the door! Known for amazing sandwiches, it's perfect for when you’re after an affordable but filling lunch to keep you going for the rest of your library session. I’ve recently been getting the salami, mozzarella and tomato panini and it’s a 10/10, especially when you add pesto!

Looking forward to a good lunch or post-library treat makes studying way more bearable.
