Coming soon: NU Reflect

Published: 3 August 2021 | Updated: 3 August 2021 | By: Newcastle University | 1 min read

Following a review of ePortfolio, the system will be redeveloped and relaunched as NU Reflect for September 2021.

NU Reflect will be relevant to all students and provide you with the tools to support personal, professional, and academic reflection, as well as offering opportunities for you to recognise and record your skills development. It will also offer you the opportunity to collaborate with other students or to communicate with your Personal Tutor.

Reflection is an important part of the learning process with a wide range of benefits, such as helping you to create and achieve goals and objectives, identifying your skills and abilities, and supporting your employability. Reflecting on your experiences can also produce significant value and increased learning from that experience.

Further information and updates will be provided before NU Reflect is launched in September 2021. However, several FAQ can be found below:

How do I access NU Reflect?

All students can access NU Reflect directly through the NU Reflect website (web address to be confirmed) or through Canvas. It will be available in Canvas in both Account and in any Course menu.

Will all my previous activities/content in ePortfolio still be accessible?

Yes. The system will be redeveloped for improved functionality and ease of use, but all reflections, Community posts, meetings, etc., will still be accessible.

How can I learn how to use NU Reflect?

NU Reflect is designed to be easy to use and intuitive. Support will be available within NU Reflect that will provide information on how to get the best out of the system, as well as guidance on reflective practice.

I have a question about how NU Reflect is used on my course. Who should I speak to?

You should speak to your tutor or course administrator.

Where can I find out more about reflection and its benefits?

The Academic Skills Kit has useful information on reflection, offering guidance on how to reflect and the benefits reflecting can have on your personal and academic development.
