Could you go Net Zero?

By Newcastle University

In Newcastle, we’re aiming to reduce our emissions down to Net Zero, an enormous challenge which has never been done before.

Net Zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gases emitted and the amount removed from the atmosphere. To achieve this, we need to work on reducing emissions, as well as actively removing greenhouse gases.

So how can you help?

On Monday 1st March 2021 at 9:30am, you can join the first Student Climate Change Summit, to meet with like-minded people from Newcastle City Council, Newcastle University, and Northumbria University.

You’ll hear discussions on the citywide commitments to the challenge, how your actions can help, and how you can achieve a career within the green economy, and you’ll also have the chance to ask questions and contribute to the debate.

The Net Zero Student Innovation Challenge

Showcase your passion for Net Zero and win prizes of up to £400 through the Student Innovation Challenge. You’ll receive help from industry experts, and the event will be a great opportunity to network, as well as to learn more about how you can help make a difference.

You can base your ideas on one of the following topics:

  • Low carbon campuses
  • Low carbon lifestyles
