Looking for a financial boost to support your studies? Look no further!

In partnership with Santander, we're thrilled to announce the return of the Brighter Futures Grant.

Ten students from our University have the chance to win a grant of £1,000 each.

Who can apply?

All students can enter, including undergraduates, postgraduates, part-time and full-time students. You do not have to bank with Santander.

Why should I apply?

The grant, with its no-string-attached approach, aims to provide financial freedom and gives you the flexibility to use the funds where they’re needed most. Whether it’s investing in textbooks, upgrading your study space, or covering living expenses, the choice is yours. The Brighter Futures Grants programme is not just a grant, it’s an investment in your academic journey, providing you with the tools you need to do well.

Even if you don't win, you will have access to Santander's Open Academy - a free online learning platform with countless courses, content and scholarships.

What do previous Newcastle University winners have to say?

"It was so easy to apply - I completed the whole process while waiting for a lecture to start. I have been saving for a car so this has significantly helped me and I can't wait to get my own set of wheels!"

“The process to submit an application for Brighter Futures is really easy.  You will need to create an account with Santander Open Academy, which only takes a couple of minutes. And then you have access to several scholarships that they have available to apply.  I really recommend having an account so you don’t miss out”.

“It will support me massively.  As a mature student I rely on my student loan and working part-time. To be able to have this money, especially with the living crisis, has been a huge help for me, and I am really grateful for this”.

“It allows me to use the money to facilitate my studies, as I have invested in storage hardware to back-up all my files that I have from my university degree.  And I can save the rest of the money, in case I need to use it for any emergency or eventuality”.
