Slow down. Make bread. Live better | Introducing a new Wellbeing Workshop

By Newcastle University

Would you like to make your own loaf of delicious soda bread?

Slow down. Make bread. Live better.

As well as being shown the process for making this simplest of loaves during this online workshop, there'll be a chance to ask questions about things you can do to help yourself keep well in these difficult times.

Making bread can give us a chance to practise mindfulness, have the satisfaction of making something by hand from start to finish and can be a soothing and grounding activity at a time of heightened anxiety. It is also, of course, a way of making you and your friends something nourishing to eat, and eating well is an important part of good self-care.

No prior knowledge of baking is required. You'll need access to an oven (not a microwave) and other equipment, listed on the booking website. The recipe, including the ingredients list and instructions, is also featured on the booking website.

Coping with Change Feb 16.

We will all experience some form of change in our lives. We may change schools or move home, or there may be changes in our family dynamics or friendships. Leaving home and/or school to study at University is a big change and further changes will happen as life progresses. Some people go through very few changes and others will go through many. Some changes may be experienced as enjoyable challenges; others may be distressing or even traumatic. In addition, we are all now dealing with a great deal of change as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Learning to cope with change is a skill that can be developed. This informative workshop will explore the emotional processes involved in change and invite you to reflect on your own experience of change. It will also cover strategies for coping with change when it inevitably happens.
