With Covid restrictions in place, it can be difficult to find things to do. Here are some ways you can watch, stream, and read to keep yourself entertained.

Box of Broadcasts

Through Box of Broadcasts, you can watch over 2.2 million TV and radio broadcasts from up to 30 years ago – all for free! You can view television schedules, record programmes, and create your own playlists, as well view those made by others.

To log in, select Newcastle University from the list of institutions and log in with your usual University login details.

Amazon Prime Free Trial

As a student, you can try Amazon Prime free for six months, giving you access to thousands of films and TV shows, as well as free Premium Delivery on many items.

IPTV

If you’ve been using lockdown to learn a new language, you might want to try IPTV, which gives you access to network channels and films in many different languages, including English, French, Spanish and Chinese. You can turn subtitles on and off, so it’s perfect for testing your listening skills!

Spotify for Students

On Spotify, you can access millions of songs and podcasts, perfect for any mood you’re in. You can access them all for free, or sign up for a Student Premium account for £4.99 a month, which allows you to listen offline and removes adverts.

Be Well@NCL

Be Well@NCL is a collection of books chosen carefully by health professionals to help you understand and manage your mental health and wellbeing. They deal with a whole manner of issues, including anxiety, bereavement, depression, low self-esteem, and stress, amongst many others.

You can borrow the books from our Libraries, using the Click and Collect service, or you can access many of the books online.

If you’re still looking for things to do, why not join in with some of our virtual events?
