Trip to Kielder Lake - 7 June
Calling all nature lovers! Join the Newcastle University Students' Union trip to Kielder Lake on 7 June 2025, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Northumberland. Kielder Lake, known as the largest man-made lake in the UK, is surrounded by one of the biggest forests in England.
It’s the perfect summer escape to unwind, breathe in the fresh air, and soak up the sunshine with stunning views of water, trees, and open skies.
Whether you're into peaceful walks, spotting wildlife, or just enjoying the long summer days in nature, this trip has something for everyone. And the best part is, the Give it a Go programme offers tickets for just £5, an amazing deal for a full day out in such a beautiful place.
Free beach yoga session - 14 June
Start your Saturday morning with a refreshing and grounding free beach yoga session at Cullercoats Bay, North Shields! Hosted by Shore Yoga on 14 June 2025 from 08:00 to 8:45, this community class is open to all levels, whether you're new to yoga or already in the flow.
With International Yoga Day coming up later in 21 June, there’s no better time to stretch, breathe, and connect with nature by the sea. Just bring your mat, some water, and good energy, it’s completely free and the perfect way to welcome the weekend and embrace the spirit of summer wellness.
Concert and gig highlights
June is the perfect time to immerse yourself in live music, and with International Music Day on Saturday 21 June, Newcastle offers a lineup of concerts to celebrate.
On Wednesday 11 June, English alt-rock band Bôa will perform at the Newcastle University Students' Union, showcasing tracks from their latest album Whiplash alongside fan favourites.
For James Bond enthusiasts, the James Bond Concert Spectacular on Sunday 15 June at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House promises an evening of iconic 007 themes performed live, hosted by Caroline Bliss, known for her role as Moneypenny.
Additionally, local hero Sam Fender returns to his roots with three massive hometown shows at St. James' Park on 12, 14, and 15 June, as part of his People Watching stadium tour. Born and raised in North Shields, Fender's connection to Newcastle adds a special resonance to these performances. Whether you're into indie rock, cinematic scores, or chart-topping hits, Newcastle's June concert lineup has something for every music lover.
Celebrate 25 years of Wylam Brewery - 8 June
As someone who lives in Newcastle, chances are you’ve had a pint (or a few) at Wylam Brewery. Now, it’s time to celebrate 25 incredible years of beer, beats, and brilliant vibes at the Wylam Day Party on Saturday 8 June 2025.
The iconic brewery is pulling out all the stops with 25 top international breweries, including favourites like Deya, Cloudwater, Other Half, and Verdant, serving their finest brews all day long in the Backyard Beer Dome.
Add in live DJ sets spinning throughout the venue and a lineup of street food legends from Wylam’s famous food battles, and you've got the recipe for an unforgettable summer celebration. Here’s to 25 years of Wylam!
A day at the Hoppings funfair – 20 - 29 June
Summer also means enjoying the sunshine outdoors, whether that’s chasing thrills, grabbing street food, or soaking up the vibes with friends. And what better way to do it than at The Hoppings, Europe’s largest travelling funfair, returning to Newcastle’s Town Moor from Friday 20 to Sunday 29 June 2025!
With over 400 rides and attractions, there’s something for everyone, from heart-racing experiences like the 200ft Star Flyer to more relaxed, family-friendly rides perfect for enjoying with friends.
