International Women’s Day - 7th March
Our Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering invites you to #BreaktheBias for International Women's Day and celebrate 150 Years of Science, Agriculture and Engineering at Newcastle University on 7th March. Bringing together several fantastic guest speakers, including Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central, and SAgE Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephanie Glendinning, this thought-provoking online event is not to be missed.
On March 8th, we're bringing together inspirational Newcastle University women to discuss how they have navigated bias and stereotypes in their fields. This will include Katy Storie, our Director of Sport, and previously an England rugby player, who will share her experience of getting into rugby, body positivity and being labelled as 'different'. North of the Tyne, Under the Stars, Festival Finale - 10th-13th March
See our city in a dazzling new light as spectacular projections play out across its iconic buildings and streets. Seven events will take place across the North of Tyne area, culminating in the Festival finale across several Newcastle city centre locations, including our very own beloved University campus.

Newcastle University Dance Club: Blame It On The Boogie - 16th-17th March
From ballet to street and contemporary to tap, get ready to boogie the night away with Newcastle University Dance Club this March. Taking center stage at the luxurious Tyne Theatre and Opera House, our award-winning club will put on a show you just can't take your eyes off.
Ouseburn Open Studios - 19th-20th March
Whether it’s jewellery, glass, textiles, prints, paintings or pottery that gets you feeling creative, Open Studios has you covered! Head to Ouseburn and feel inspired as an abundance of local artists fling open their studio doors, inviting you to come along and peruse their work. Enjoy demonstrations, snap up one-off pieces or even have a go at creating your very own masterpiece!
Holi Event with Newcastle University Hindu and Sikh Society - 20th March
Newcastle's biggest student Holi Festival, brought to you by our Hindu and Sikh (HAS) Society, is back and better than ever. Expect a joyous celebration of flying colours, delicious Indian food and live performances. There's no better way to welcome the spring season!
Joy of Painting - 24th March
With paints, brushes and canvases supplied, and the legend himself projected on the big screen, paint along with Bob Ross at Tyne Bank Brewery this March! Grab an easel and create your masterpiece whilst sampling one of Tyne Bank's many multi-award-winning beers.
Best of Northern - 24th March
There's no place like up north for comedy! Head to The Stand Comedy Club and experience four of the best Northern comics taking the mic. As seasoned headliners join forces with newer kids on the comedy block, this canny show is sure to have you in stitches.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for big laughs on a small budget, we’re big fans of Red Raw Wednesdays; an entire evening of up-and-coming talent for just £5pp!
Explore Newcastle - various dates and locations
Grab a hot drink and unlimited cuddles with the cutest pooches in the Toon at Dog and Scone Cafe on 4th March! A great opportunity to relax and take some time out with these playful pups.
If you're feeling daring, climb the narrow spiral staircase and take in stunning views atop one of Newcastle’s most iconic landmarks, Grey’s Monument, on the 16th. One of our most popular trips, rubbing shoulders with Earl Grey is a definite tick off your Toon bucket list!
Not a fan of heights? Try a guided tour of the secret underground tunnel network beneath the streets of Newcastle on the 17th March. The Victoria Tunnel is rated Trip Advisor's number one thing to do in Newcastle and is sure not to disappoint!
Day Trips - various dates and locations
Escape the city and explore further afield on a stunning Sunset Trip to the Lake District with Lundgren Tours on 5th March. Wrap up warm, put on those walking boots and explore the beauty of the Lake District's picturesque towns through the day, before watching the sun slip away over magical Lake Windermere.

Looking for something a little more hands-on? Come along to an exclusive handmade cosmetics workshop at Lush on March 3rd. Watch the experts at work before trying your hand at moulding a luxurious Snow Fairy bath bomb yourself to take away and enjoy at home. This promises to be a lovely relaxing evening surrounded by sweet smells and colourful cosmetics.
Say goodbye to winter and brighten up your accommodation with a hand-decorated plant pot! With all the supplies you'll need provided, take some time out to relax and get creative in our Students' Union on the 10th as you personalise your pot however you see fit.
Fancy yourself a master mixologist? Come along to our Cocktail Making Workshop on 14th March and learn how to throw together some delicious signature cocktails.
