This month has plenty of fun events in store for everyone to enjoy from great theatre performances to firework celebrations!
Guy Fawkes Day Celebrations, across Newcastle upon Tyne
Guy Fawkes Day - otherwise known as Bonfire Night - is celebrated every year on 5 November to commemorate the failure of the Gunpowder Plot all those years ago. The UK celebrates the failure by shooting fireworks into the sky, creating a beautiful light show in the night sky. The Argie Bhaji: "Curry Is Life", Wylam Brewery
The Argie Bhaji is a two day event held at Wylam Brewery, slap bang in the heart of Newcastle, situated within Exhibition Park. Serving food from 3pm on Friday 4 November and midday on Saturday 5 November, with music, beers, cocktails, and good times ‘til late. The best Indian street food dishes compete for the crown and the competition is fierce! The event is free entry and there will be 10 +street food spots with a 1 token offering (£4).

TedxNewcastle 2022, Sage Gateshead
After a long 3-year break, the team at TEDxNewcastle are returning with the next edition!
As an independently organised TED event, TEDxNewcastle will feature a wide array of engaging, provocative, and inspiring live speakers with topics ranging from technology, entertainment, design, media, science, academia, arts, industry, and more.
The event will take place on 12 November 2022, from 10:30am – 5:30pm at the Sage Gateshead. Head to the TedxNewcastle website for more information about bookings and tickets.
Kinky Boots: The Musical, Tyne Theatre and Opera House
Are you a fan of Broadway and musical theatre? Then head on down to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House for the show of a lifetime. Kinky Boots is a musical about a drag queen's attempt at rescuing a struggling shoe factory, with laughs and amazing musical numbers all throughout.
Kinky Boots is on stage from 15 - 19 November 2022, with ticket prices ranging from £18- £28. If you're looking to have a good laugh and look at some amazing performances, head to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House website to find out more about showtimes and prices.
Winter Wonderland, Newcastle Racecourse
Newcastle’s biggest Winter Fair, Winter Wonderland is here! Running from 17 November through until 24 December, head over to Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth, for a fun filled day out! From thrilling rides and attractions to tasty authentic street foods, there really is something for everyone. Fancy a stein of German beer or a warm glass of mulled wine at the German Bar? Will you be pranked by the one and only Mr. Grinch? Love skating on an ice rink? This is definitely not one to be missed!
Tickets can be purchased online from the Winter Wonderland website for a discounted rate, instead of full price on the day.
Events across Newcastle University
The Go Global Fair is fast approaching! Visit the Boiler House on Wednesday 2 November from 1-4pm, to explore the huge variety of global experiences you can access through Newcastle University. Come along and meet the GO team, the Global Ambassadors and other external guests including Think Pacific. The team can provide advice on finances and funding, language learning and support from across the University. No matter where you are in your global journey, come along and have a chat! Join discussions about the next phase of the Climate Action Plan at Newcastle University on Thursday 10 November, 9:30am - 4pm in the Frederick Douglass Centre. This event is for all students and colleagues to provide invaluable thoughts and feedback to shape Phase 2 of the plan. The event will report on progress against the plan so far and current projects as well as details about how sustainability targets are being met. The day will also include parallel breakout sessions, with the sessions Travel Better or Nature Positivity being ideal for students to choose to attend. Find out more about the Climate Action Plan.
This November, the Students' Union is hosting artists from the likes of Dylan, Aly and AJ, Bob Vylan, and MUNA downstairs in The Venue, so make sure you grab tickets before they are all gone!
For students who might want to embrace the outdoors this month, there are events taking place off campus such as the world famous open air museum, Beamish and even a Wilderness Trip to Rupert’s Wood! The Students' Union's Give It A Go programme also has several options to stay active during the winter months with sessions such as Social Cricket and Social Badminton.
