Ice Skating at the Life Science Centre - 9 November
Get ready to glide into Winter because the ice-skating rink at the Life Science Centre is back, from 9 November to 5 January! Whether you're a seasoned pro ready to dazzle with spins or a first timer destined for a painful stumble or two, this rink is the perfect place to embrace the Christmas spirit.
Tickets cost £15 for 1 hour on the ice (or on the sidelines after your first fall).
Newcastle Christmas Market- 16 November - 22 December
The Newcastle Christmas Market will return to the city centre from Saturday 16 November to Sunday 22 December.
Monument and Grey Street will transform into a winter wonderland and become filled with market stalls selling everything from festive food and drinks (let’s all wish for the Yorkshire pudding burritos), to perfect gifts from local small businesses.
The Argie Bhaji Food Battle at Wylam Brewery - 8 - 9 November
The Food Battles at Wylam Brewery are nothing short of a foodie’s dream, and this November brings a flavour-packed curry battle!
The Argie Bhaji Curry Battle will see over 15 of the best curry vendors in Newcastle come together and battle it out for the esteemed title of ‘Newcastle’s Best Curry.’ It’s the perfect opportunity to sample a wide variety of curries and discover the best flavours Newcastle has to offer. The event is on from 12:00 - 22:30 each day giving you plenty of time to get your votes in! The event is free to enter, and tokens can be purchased at the venue for £4 each.
Ouseburn Open Studios - 23 - 24 November
As one of the most creative neighbourhoods in the North East and home to an array of talented artists, designers and printmakers, Ouseburn's Winter Open Studios promises a beautiful array of original art with student-friendly pricing.
Across Ouseburn, 14 venues will let the public in, to explore the work of Ouseburn’s creative community, with paintings, jewellery, ceramics and prints up for sale. It's a fantastic opportunity to support local artists while finding one-of-a-kind pieces to brighten up your space.
Spud Fest- 28 November
This November, Newcastle University’s School of Natural and Environmental Sciences brings a celebration of all things relating to the humble potato. Spud Fest will showcase all of Newcastle University’s ground-breaking research on potatoes through presentations, videos, games, free tasting samples and a potato, and leafy greens harvest market.
This spud filled event will take place in the Boiler House on campus at 10am on 28 November.
Edinburgh Christmas Market - 30 November
On 30 November, Lundgren Tours are hosting a tour to the UK's favourite Christmas Markets. The markets offer a mix of festive activities, from browsing homemade crafts and gifts to sampling seasonal treats. Beyond the markets, there’s a chance to explore Edinburgh city, which looks even more charming decked out for Christmas. Tickets cost £40 through the NUSU website.

Guy Fawkes Day Celebrations - 5 November
Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night, is celebrated across the UK to commemorate Guy Fawkes’ gunpowder plot. Newcastle offers lots of events and activities to celebrate this day including an array of firework shows.
