The regular Quayside Market has returned for the run up to Christmas, offering you handmade goods and delicious local food. The market will now run on both Saturdays and Sundays between 9am and 4pm. Whilst you’re there, why not take a stroll along the river and make the most of the beautiful Quayside scenery?

When visiting the Quayside Market, please adhere to social distancing rules and follow the directions of security marshals

Fenwick's Christmas Window

Fenwicks

Here in Newcastle, the Fenwick window embodies the Christmas spirit! Each year, the store creates beautiful scenery in the shop windows to create a real festive feel. This year, Fenwick chose a Wind in the Willows theme and they revealed the decorations on Facebook live in early November to hundreds of thousands of viewers!

Grab a hot drink and take a stroll down Northumberland to see the window for yourself, or watch the reveal video online.

Carols on the Doorstep

doorstep carols

Gathering together with other people in your community to share in the singing Christmas carols is a very popular tradition throughout the UK. Normally we would have several opportunities to do this on campus, with the lighting of the Christmas tree lights and the university carol service. These events are not possible in the same way this year, but this national event is an easy way to share in some socially-distanced festive cheer with your neighbours. Simply head to the Carols on the Doorstep website to find instructions for how to access the song words and backing tracks. You could even use it as an opportunity to put on your favourite Christmas jumper!

Carols on the Doorstep will take place on Sunday 20th December at 5:30pm and should last around 15 minutes

Ouseburn Christmas Market

On the same weekend, Ouseburn Farm will be opening for mince pies, hot chocolate and festive music, so you can make the most of your day trip to Ouseburn!

Laser Light City

To welcome in the New Year , Newcastle City Council are bringing us an interactive laser installment to light up the skies across the city. The lasers will be placed in three locations in the city, and should be visible to people within a ten mile radius of the city centre. In addition to this, at 6pm on New Year's Eve, fireworks will be set across various locations in the city, so you can celebrate the new year from the comfort of your own home
