Politics and History student Emily is flying the flag for Newcastle as she represents Great Britain and the IRF World Rafting Championships in Malaysia. Taking place 1-7 December on the Kampar River in Gopeng, Perak, this event brings together the world's best young rafters, and Emily's selection is a huge achievement!
Sport and Exercise student Toby has continued his exceptional form this year.
Already the national pistol shooting champion, Toby competed at the ISSF World Cup in Delhi before representing GB U22 in the Rapid Fire back in October.
He finished 5th in the world, marking one of the strongest international results of his career so far!
At the recent GB Rowing trials, Ed and Gwilym delivered a stand-out performance. The pair placed second overall and also won the U23 category, securing their spot in the next stage of GB selection.
Pharmacy student Joy Eze continues to shine on the track.
After representing Team GB at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Joy went on to win Sport Newcastle's Young Sporting Success of the Year in November.
She also claimed European Gold this summer as part of the GB Under 23 relay squad, setting her up for what looks to be another massive season in 2026.
Law student and athletic talent Henry was also recognised this year, winning a Rising Star award at the Sport Newcastle awards held at Newcastle Civic Centre in November.
His continued progress marks him as one to watch in next year's University athletics season.
Our Intramural Sport programme continues to grow, with 17 new teams added this year, bringing the total to an incredible 138 teams across campus!
That means that over 2,000 students are regularly taking part in football, netball, rugby, basketball, and hockey!
With 80+ hours of competitive sport every week, intramural continues to be one of the most popular and inclusive ways for students to get active!
