Jack, a Molecular Microbiology PhD student
Hiya, y’alright. I’m John, a final year Microbiology PhD student in the Biosciences Institute here at Newcastle University. I’m from just across the river in Gateshead having studied or researched in three out of the five universities in the region. (Sunderland, Newcastle and Durham) I’m not always in the lab looking after my bacterial bairns; I’m also passionate about science communication and science fiction. For hobbies, I’m a committed parkrunner (every Saturday plus Christmas and New Year), big podcast consumer (essential on the commute) and stand up comedy enthusiast. Like the rest of the city, the kind and brilliant people make Newcastle University. I’m incredibly lucky to be in a bristling hive for talented microbiologists.
